Our Story

I founded Caffé Rustico with a simple dream- to bring high quality Italian food to the Heaton community.

I was born in Siracusa, in Sicily, and it’s my love for my hometown that I bring to every dish. I grew up on rosticceria (quick handheld meals), and I’ve always wished café’s served them, so mine does! Our classic pizzetta, calzone, and sombrero are staples of our establishment.

That’s not to say we only do Sicilian food, though. Every Italian says our lasagne and carbonara tastes just like home. And yes- our guanciale is from the cheek, not the belly!

It takes a real commitment to make authentic food, and we’re proud to offer that to everyone. If you like what you’ve eaten that much- I’d love to tell you how to make it yourself. When you’re here, you’re family, so it’s only right to share the family recipe.

Aggiungi un posto a tavola! That’s “put an extra seat at the table”, as we say in Italy. When you next visit us, there’ll always be an extra seat for you, my friend!
